Syra turns 2 (weeks)

Well folks, as of 6:10am EST this morning, we're official two weeks into being parents of two kids!

So are either of us going crazy just yet? No, not really, unless you count buying a minivan last week. Our little Nissan Sentra just wasn't cutting it with two car seats, so we caved. I gave up on acting cool/hip once we had Samarah, so switching to a minivan isn't going to be a big deal. I'm not sure how or why Kaniz caved, but the bottom line is that we've now got seating for 8 (and no, we aren't planning on using any of the extra seats on a full-time basis!).

Anyway, aside from our mobility challenges (which will end this Tuesday when we pick up the van), things are going quite well: Syra is a perfect, healthy baby; Samarah is a perfect, happy big sister; and Kaniz and I are getting enough sleep so that we aren't hallucinating during the day. We've got a pretty decent nighttime routine going, so both of us are able to get some sleep. I'm also back at work, which has been a challenge, but I can't really complain since I work from home. I don't know how parents that commute into work do it.

Hmm.. what else? The diaper genie is filling up a lot faster these days. I'm sure the garbage collectors noticed the extra heavy green bin this week. According to Kaniz, we've got a pretty fair system in place as far as diaper changes go: She's responsible for input, I'm responsible for output. With all the constant washing, my hands (which are already dry in the winter) are approaching fine sandpaper grade.

Oh, also, since my last post, I celebrated my birthday (v3.2). Long time readers may recall the announcement I posted when I turned 30. I can't believe the last 2 years have gone by so quickly! I guess Syra arrived a couple of weeks early so she could be here for my birthday (and for ensuring that when she turns 18, I'm still 49!).

Alright, I think this is enough of an update. Here are the pictures from the previous week. Enjoy!
