Busy. Busy. Busy.

It's been a busy couple of months in the Rizvi household. Don't believe me? Well, here are a few highlights from August and the first week of September:

  • Plenty of post-move issues (dealing with the builder, trying to get a Rogers tech to actually show up on time, unpacking the remaining boxes, etc.). All in all, fairly typical for moving into a new home, but having both girls home full-time added a bit of extra challenge.

  • Two weekends with out-of-town visitors. We had a ton of fun with our guests - especially with Baby Tess meeting Samarah and Syra (just check the pictures).

  • Having to deal with our refrigerator breaking down after 6 weeks. Let me tell you, that is one appliance you cannot do without. It was an interesting week to say the least, but we did get to live like Europeans and buy fresh groceries every day.

  • An out-of-town wedding (congrats Julia and Shane!)

  • Kicking the afternoon nap.. and I know what some of you are thinking, but no, it wasn't me trying to forego the nap. We had to wean Samarah off the nap since her new montessori doesn't allow naps.

  • Potty training. Again, a requirement for attending the montessori school for Samarah. If you have kids and you've gone through this process, I think you know what this entails. If you don't have kids but plan on having some, and think that toddlers magically start using the toilet on their own, let's just say you're in for a surprise. I have to be honest though, Kaniz did 99% of the work, so the credit is entirely hers (and Samarah's). It took about a solid week of staying within arms length of a potty before we could safely let Samarah hang out on the carpet. While there were a few minor accidents at home during that week, Samarah's done really well. As usual, we couldn't be more proud of our little angel!

  • First day of school! So it's only Montessori, and pretty much like daycare, but it still felt like a big deal. Even though Kaniz and I both talked to Samarah constantly about her new school to help her get ready, I'd say that Kaniz did most of the actual work. Ok, maybe all of the actual work. Drop-off on the first day was a little sad (plenty of tears from Summy), but Samarah's really enjoying the new school and thriving in the new environment.

Well, I'd love to write more, but I'll have to end this here. I still owe you guys pictures of the new place, but in the meantime, enjoy these pics of our adventures in August (and the first week of September).
