Settling into a routine...

As some of you know, I come from a family of five boys. Growing up, I always knew that my dad wanted a daughter, but I don't know if I ever really understood why. Now that I have two daughters of my own though, I completely understand. Every parent-child relationship is special, but (and I may be a little biased here), the father-daughter relationship is extra special. In my case, it helps that Syra and Samarah are nigh-perfect, not to mention super cute! :)
Syra turned 5 weeks yesterday, and boy, was that a quick 5 weeks! Kaniz and I are already feeling like she's growing up too fast. I'm guessing that this particular parental feeling isn't go away anytime soon. She definitely isn't a newborn anymore, having already graduated to size 1 diapers, 0-3/3 month clothes and staying awake for hours at a time. Based on all the picture of her sleeping, I know you may not believe this, but Syra is one alert baby. Unfortunately, she's dealing with a rather bad case of baby acne lately. Apparently, this harmless condition is fairly common, but since Samarah never went through it, it's a new experience for us. I'm sure it'll work itself out in the next few weeks.
I may have already said this a few times, but Samarah has been a great big sister. She's adjusted as well as we could have ever hoped to having a little sis. Her favourite thing about Syra is helping change dirty diapers.. and the poopier the diaper, the better. Judging by her performance of 'P-U' and 'It's stinky, daddy,' Samarah may have a career in acting. It goes without saying though, that she does try to get our attention by doing things she knows she isn't supposed to. Emptying her cereal/goldfish crackers/grapes/bananas/pears/cookies/etc on to the carpet/hardwood/couch/car seat/her clothes is a popular one! Sometimes it's hard to remember that Samarah is still a little toddler, even if she's so much bigger than Syra.
Anyway, the bottom line is that we're slowly settling into a manageable routine, with the usual 'some days/nights are better than others' story. Thanks to everyone who's dropped by, brought gifts, cooked food, and sent us kind words by e-mail.
Here are a few pictures from days 14-25 of Syra's life. Enjoy!
