Showered with love....

My birthday gift this year was health for myself and for +1. I couldn't ask for much else (other than a diamond necklace which Abbas has on order for me :-).

Seriously though, the diagnosis of not having pre-eclampsia is a blessing. The doctor did say that this is probably an inidication that I could have hypertension later in life and I really need to watch out for it and take care of myself. The one interesting fact is that for our +2, I will not likely have gestational hypertension as your body somehow recalls the experience and deals with it better. We'll see.

This afternoon Rifat and Sajeda (and their kind helpers) organized a family baby shower for me.
I felt so lucky to even be there, let alone so blessed to have so many loved ones around me and in my life. It was just perfect. After the big storm on Saturday, today was a beautiful sunny day and the ladies enjoyed the relaxing afternoon of fun games and delicious food.

Mom made me this beautiful tray of fruit that consists of a
coconut, oranges, apples, grapes, etc. This is a traditional gift
for a daughter expecting a baby where the fruit is blessed and represents health and happiness for the mother and baby.

Ok, now that rolling kabobs and frying puri are aside, I have time to do this. For all of you who are wondering, I am an heir to the Queen of Exceptional Cooking; my mom. And it is my sole responsibility to carry on her exquisite culinary skill to the next generation.

I had a nice time at this shower and am honoured to have provided my photography skills.

I was equally honoured to eat lasagna beyond my stomach's storing capacity. Great job with all that was munch-able at the shower Rifat!

We're counting down Kaniz!

yours,
Mahnaaz
