Samarah's on the move!

I know I've got some more pictures from our California trip left to post, but I thought I'd share some exciting news with you...

Samarah decided to wait till we got back from our trip to hit a few exciting milestones.. drum roll please!
  1. Watch where you put those fingers! Samarah sprouted two teeth overnight!
  2. Where'd mommy and daddy go? Samarah's starting to develop a little bit of separation anxiety, and even though it's hard to admit, she is showing a preference for her mommy. The other day she almost jumped from my arms to Kaniz's! I can't help but feel a little sad about this, although I'm told that I'll get over this quickly.
  3. Get me a GPS! Our little girl is on the move! She's figured out how to crawl (backwards).. plus she's rolling over and even somersaulting (kind of).. all this basically means that we can no longer leave Samarah unattended on our bed (or anywhere for that matter).
We managed to capture the first few crawling attempts.. so naturally, I'm obliged to share them with you! Here's Samarah's first attempt:
 


After a few tries, she's gotten a lot faster!



Of course, a video post wouldn't be complete without a couple of clips of Samarah doing her favourite thing -- laughing!



I know I sound a little silly in these clips, but what the hay...

Wow, way to go, Samarah! You're putting Finn to shame: he gets too frustrated when trying to crawl, and his softie dad indulges him probably too quickly with the faux-walking.

Kaniz and Abbas, here's hoping your fingers survive the toothy love-bites. ;-)

Fast forward...

Ok, so I feel like I'm cheating a little bit here by posting six months worth of pictures at once, but this is the only way I have a remote chance of catching up. As you can see from the pictures, the Rizvi family definitely had a busy few months.. between birthdays, engagement parties, anniversaries, and family outings, we kept a full social calendar. Also, as you can tell from the picture above, Samarah and Syra are really starting to play well together. Ok, maybe 'well' isn't the right word, but they do have their moments. Syra definitely has a more forceful personality, which effectively neutralizes the size advantage Samarah has. I'm sure the fighting will only escalate as they get older. Stay tuned. In the meantime, enjoy the pictures from Jan-June, 2011!

Busy. Busy. Busy.

It's been a busy couple of months in the Rizvi household. Don't believe me? Well, here are a few highlights from August and the first week of September: Plenty of post-move issues (dealing with the builder, trying to get a Rogers tech to actually show up on time, unpacking the remaining boxes, etc.). All in all, fairly typical for moving into a new home, but having both girls home full-time added a bit of extra challenge. Two weekends with out-of-town visitors . We had a ton of fun with our guests - especially with Baby Tess meeting Samarah and Syra (just check the pictures). Having to deal with our refrigerator breaking down after 6 weeks. Let me tell you, that is one appliance you cannot do without. It was an interesting week to say the least, but we did get to live like Europeans and buy fresh groceries every day. An out-of-town wedding (congrats Julia and Shane!) Kicking the afternoon nap.. and I know what some of you are thinking, but no, it wasn't me trying to for...
